Workspace Owner Guide

Prev Next

As an owner, you're in charge of your workspace: its details, who else owns it, and who can see and do what inside it. Here's everything you need to know :

1. Workspace Details

Go to Workspace Settings > Edit Workspace to update the name, company info, and logo.

2. Contacts

Each contact has a type (General, Integrations, or Accounting), a name, email, and optional phone number. Add, edit, or delete using the add / pencil / bin icons. At least one contact is always required.

3. Owners

Add owners with the user picker. You can't remove yourself, and there's always at least one owner.

ℹ️ Note: Removing owner status doesn't remove someone from the workspace - just their owner powers. To remove them entirely, delete their user (see "Managing Users").

4. How Access Works

Your workspace is a tree of areas (e.g. regions containing sites). Access granted on an area automatically covers everything inside it.

An access level always bundles three things: an area, a role (what members can do), and the people it applies to. People can hold several access levels at once.

Golden Rule: You can only grant what you yourself can do, on areas you can access, to people you manage.

5. Granting Access

Open an area's User Access tab to add or delete access levels, and add/remove members. Deleting an access level can't be undone.

  • Inherited access comes from higher up the tree - edit it at the source.
  • Locked entries (like Owners) are system-managed and can't be edited here.

6. Roles

Find all roles under Management > Roles. As owner, you can edit or delete any custom role.

Role

Can do

Moderator

Everything in their areas, incl. managing users - the only default role that can.

Manage devices

Devices, alarms, schedules, dashboards. No time-lapse.

Manage alarms

Alarms, arm/disarm, schedules. View-only for devices.

View alarms & devices

View-only: alarms, devices, time-lapse, dashboards.

View alarms

Alarms only.

Reconeyez app only

Mobile app only: view devices, arm/disarm, schedules.

Need something different? Build a custom role under Create role, picking exactly what it allows across Events, Devices, Users, Dashboard, Management, and Login access.

7. Managing Users

Go to Management > Users (only visible if your role includes user management).

You see people with equal or less access than you - owners see everyone; others only see people fully within their managed areas. If you can see someone, you can manage them.

  • Create user - add someone new.
  • Open a user - view or edit their access.
  • Delete a user - removes them and all access at once. Can't be undone, and you can't delete yourself.
