Starting with Installer App version 4.0.0, certificate loading is fully automatic. The manual certificate menu has been removed, installers no longer need to load or manage certificates themselves. Device access is now controlled entirely by user role and area access.
✅ What changed in version 4.0.0
Certificates load automatically · No manual certificate menu · Device access based on user role + area access only
What changed
⚠ Before - App < 4.0.0
Manual certificate loading required
Certificate menu visible in the app Installer managed certs directly
✅ After - App 4.0.0+
Certificates load automatically
No certificate menu in the app Access controlled by role & area only
How device access works now
An installer can see and work with a device only if both conditions are met
- Their user account has Manage devices access or higher (Moderator or Owner) on the area.
- Custom roles also work: any custom role that includes the Manage devices permission will grant the same access as the built-in Manage devices role.
The devices are in an area the installer's account has access to.
Role | Can see devices | Can claim & configure |
Viewer | ✓ ![]() | ✗ ![]() |
Manage devices ![]() ![]() | ✓ | ✓ |
Moderator | ✓ ![]() | ✓ ![]() |
Owner | ✓ | ✓ |
The minimum role required for an installer to claim and configure devices is Manage devices. If an installer reports they can see a device but cannot access or configure it, this is almost always a role/area access issue, not a certificate issue.
Troubleshooting: installer cannot access a device
If an installer on app 4.0.0+ reports they cannot see or access a device, follow these steps:
1. Confirm the app version
Please check your app version. You must be on 4.0.0 or later. If not, update via the Reconeyez support site.
2. Identify which area the devices are in
In the Reconeyez Cloud, locate the area containing the devices you are trying to access.
3. Check the installer's current role on that area
Go to the area settings and review the assigned role. If you have Viewer access or no access, that is the cause.
4. Assign the correct role
Assign Manage devices, Moderator, or Owner access on the relevant area. This can be done by Support or the distributor.
5. Log out and back in
Role changes take effect after a fresh login. Please log out of the app and log back in.
6. Verify access
You should now be able to see and configure the devices. Rescan on channel 22 if devices are not immediately visible.
⚠ Note
Do not attempt to resolve access issues by reverting to an older app version. The certificate menu is permanently removed from 4.0.0. All access issues must be resolved through role and area assignment in the Reconeyez Cloud.
