- Assign the installer Manage devices or a higher-level user role in the Cloud
- Move the installed devices into a device area that the installer has access to
What changed
⚠ Before - App < 4.0.0
- Certificate menu visible in the app
- Devices were programmed with a customer-specific certificate before shipping
- The installer needed to have the same certificate file in the app to access the devices
How device access works now
An installer can see and configure Reconeyez devices only if both conditions are met
- Their user account has Manage devices or higher (eg. Moderator or Owner) access to the area.
- Custom roles also work: any custom role that includes the Manage devices role will grant the same access as the default Manage devices role.
- The devices are in a device area that the installer's user account has access to.
Role | Can see devices | Can claim & configure |
Viewer | ✓ ![]() | ✗ ![]() |
Manage devices ![]() ![]() | ✓ | ✓ |
Moderator | ✓ ![]() | ✓ ![]() |
Owner | ✓ | ✓ |
Troubleshooting: the installer cannot access a device
If an installer on app 4.0.0+ reports they cannot see or access a device, follow these steps:
1. Confirm the app version
Please check your app version. You must be on 4.0.0 or later. If not, update via the Reconeyez support site.
2. Identify which area the devices are in
In the Reconeyez Cloud, locate the area containing the devices you are trying to access.
3. Check the installer's current role on that area
Go to the Users menu and review the assigned role. If you have View devices access or no access, that is the cause.
4. Assign the correct role
Assign Manage devices, Moderator, or Owner user role to the relevant area.
5. Log out and back in
Role changes take effect after a fresh login. Please log out of the app and log back in.
6. Verify access
You should now be able to see and configure the devices. Rescan on channel 22 if devices are not immediately visible.
⚠ Note
Do not attempt to resolve access issues by reverting to an older app version. The certificate menu is permanently removed from 4.0.0. All access issues must be resolved through role and area assignment in the Reconeyez Cloud.
